Job Overview
LAMB is looking to hire an enthusiastic part-time STEM teacher to support students in Lower Elementary (1st - 3rd Grades) and Upper Elementary (4th - 5th Grades). If you have experience with students in grades 1st through 5th grade, apply today!
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
Instructional Duties
- Provide weekly STEM instruction for 1st and 5th-grade students during school hours
- Deliver engaging STEM lessons that integrate science, technology, engineering, and math.
- Guide students towards achieving distinct objectives aligned with curriculum standards.
- Design and implement hands-on activities such as experiments, coding tasks, robotics projects, or engineering challenges.
- Teach students the basics of media and digital literacy skills.
- Teach students basic computer skills and care of computers and accessories.
- Provide timely feedback and maintain records of student progress.
- Use assessment data to refine instruction and support students’ growth.
Curriculum and Planning
- Collaborate with other teachers to integrate STEM across subjects, including literacy and social studies when possible.
- Develop age-appropriate lesson plans and long-term unit plans that promote critical thinking and problem-solving.
- Plan, coordinate, and prepare exhibitions to display student work for the school community.
Classroom Management
- Maintain a safe and organized STEM learning environment, particularly during experiments and hands-on activities.
- Teach and enforce lab safety protocols and appropriate equipment usage.
- Manage the educational setting in a manner that promotes positive student behavior, respectful and focused learning, and a safe and healthy environment.
- Embrace and foster student belonging and inclusion in the classroom by modeling and upholding high expectations for all students and practicing Grace and Courtesy plus our PAZ values
Professional Responsibility
- Maintain fidelity to LAMB’s Dual Language Allocation Plan
- Actively and positively participate in LAMB’s coaching culture and identify and work towards achieving personal and professional goals
- Respect and support the equal valuation of Spanish and English language skills and cultural traditions in the classroom, and include activities from diverse cultural and linguistic traditions
- Build a classroom culture that demonstrates the principles of biliteracy, Grace and Courtesy, and PAZ (Positive Words, Actions of Respect, Zone of Learning)
- Participate in meetings, training, and/or planning cooperatives to fully serve children’s needs
- Participate in all scheduled Professional Development sessions and trainings to ensure continued education and professional growth
- Cultivate strong partnerships with families through updates, blogs, and other community-wide communications, in addition to regular communication with families and classroom teachers regarding classroom work, positive contributions, behavior, and incidents
- Communicate with parents by school policy, and promote the school’s mission, objectives, and policies to parents
- Support school safety and assist with arrival and dismissal procedures, and lunch and recess coverage, as assigned and necessary
- Read and respond to emails from supervisors, colleagues, and families within 48 hours
- Meet with the Supervisor and/or Principal to develop solutions for any parent, staff, or school-related challenges, as needed
- Attend and participate in International Day and other school events that occur outside of the instructional day, such as Back to School Night, Graduation/Moving Up Celebration, family workshops, family engagement events, and celebrations of student learning
- Embody the Montessori philosophy of Grace and Courtesy and LAMB’s ideals of PAZ in all relationships - with students, colleagues, families, and other community members
- Arrive and begin work on time, and be punctual for arrival, meetings, transitions, and dismissal. Punch in and out on time and keep Paycom information up to date.
- Other duties as assigned
Basic Qualifications
- Experience and/or training in teaching STEM to students in 1st-5th grade
- Energetic, flexible, imaginative, and eager to work in a bilingual and multicultural public school
- B.A. in education, math, science, or related field
- Spanish native or bilingual speaker (Spanish/English)
- Demonstrated ability to work with students from diverse backgrounds
- Open to becoming familiar with the Montessori philosophy and method of education
- Experience working with a multidisciplinary team (e.g. general education teachers, and the SST team)
- Skilled in the use of technology and educational platforms (Google Suite, Clever, ParentSquare, Transparent Classroom, PowerSchool, etc.)
- Able to maintain confidentiality and sensitivity to parent, staff, and student needs and information

FLSA Classification: Exempt
Reports to: Upper Elementary Coordinator Coach
Schedule: 10-month part-time position (25 hours/week, Monday-Friday from 11:15 am to 4:15 pm)
Compensation
Salary is commensurate with experience, ranging from $34,916 to $61,551 for this part-time position. Benefits include 401k, sick leave, employee assistance program, and a variety of wellness and learning opportunities (Headspace, Rosetta Stone, etc.).
